The Coniston coppermines are a beautiful setting for a weekend walking. The hostel is set under the Coniston Old Man above the village of Coniston, already in the hills with a variety of different walks in the local area.

We generally head up for 11am on the Friday to enjoy a short walk in the area and welcome other people (who can't get the extra day's leave) in the evening. Saturday is an ideal opportunity to access the area around Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam and other peaks and ridges in the area. We will offer a couple of options for the day, aimed to suit the ability and desires of the group. When we did this trip in November 2009, the Saturday morning had bright sunshine and some snow on the tops which was a real experience.

We provide the catering from Friday dinner to Sunday (packed) lunch, the accommodation and a number of different walking options on Saturday and Sunday.
