Dart weekend 2010,  Mainstream

Dear Paddlers

Here are the details of the Dart Trip, taking place over the w/e 26-28 November 2010. We stay at Bachelors Hall, (OS Map 191; GR 602736) where we are the sole occupants. You won’t find the centre without a map - be warned !   [Tel 01822 890375]  Please try to arrive at the hostel on Friday night by 10:00pm.

Meet us on Saturday at 9:30am in the Tavistock car park (OS Map 201; GR 480742). 

The plans for kayaking / canoeing on Saturday and Sunday, will depend on water levels and the make up of the group. We expect to paddle the Tavy on the Saturday, as we hope for more water than last year and it has great potential. All kayakers and canoeist should be at least (new) 2* ability and also able to break in and out, ferry glide and rescue. We can offer 3* kayak assessment during this w/e if this is pre-arranged. To help us safely organise the "on the water" time, please complete the reply form below for each person you are booking in. 

The weekend costs £44, this includes accommodation, showers and a main evening meal on Saturday. You need to bring a boat etc.; food for breakfasts and packed lunches; a good sleeping bag and pillow. After the meal on Saturday night, we intend to share a brief and informal time of fellowship. On Sunday we will paddle the Dart “loop” from Newbridge to Holne Bridge. We anticipate departing for home, direct from the river around 3pm.
